Support us
a different way
We tackle homelessness, mental health issues and wellbeing head-on. And we’re creating positive change in our communities through the services we offer. But there is always someone else who needs our help and there is always more we can do.
We offer support and advice across four areas – homelessness and housing support, mental health support, counselling and wellbeing activities.
We need your help to stop people falling through the gaps and places where existing solutions fall short.
Your donations mean a vulnerable 16 year old has a safe place to sleep, a veteran gets the support they deserve and people across West Lancashire don’t feel lonely and isolated.
There are different ways you can give.

Sponsor a room
SPONSOR NOWWhen you sponsor a room at Birchwood, you help a homeless young person find a safe place to live and thrive. We work with each young person to build their confidence, nurture their talents and equip them with essential life skills they need to build an independent, happy life for themselves.
Why do we need your help?
There are lots of reasons a young person becomes homeless. We know last year over 311,990 households in England in 2022-23, up 7.0% from the previous year, approached their council seeking help with homelessness. That’s a shocking number but the official stats often don’t capture the reality, the thousands of young people sleeping rough, or moving from sofa to sofa.
When you sponsor a room, you help us tackle this issue directly in West Lancashire, right now Birchwood is the only provider of supported accommodation for 16-24 year olds in West Lancashire.
In 2018 we provided 14,320 nights of safe accommodation to vulnerable people in crisis.
Buy a toiletry pack
BUY NOWIt’s often the smallest thing that make the biggest difference.
Your £5 donation buys a toiletry pack containing the essentials for someone who is homeless. They may have little or no money and only a few belongings, so a toiletry pack means they can shower, freshen up and retain a sense of dignity.
Donating takes 2 minutes and you’ll make a measurable difference today.
