supported living

Twelve supported homes in Skelmersdale

Now open.

Stability. Rebuild. Move forward.

Heversham offers 12 supported homes in Skelmersdale. It’s a safe place where adults at risk of homelessness can take their next step towards independence. Part of Birchwood’s Integrated Move-On programme, it provides the space and support to start again.

The problem

Skelmersdale is at the sharp end of a national homelessness picture.

Parts of our town are among the most economically deprived areas in England. High unemployment. Persistent poverty. Limited safety nets. When things go wrong for people here, there’s often nothing to catch them.

At least 382,000 people are homeless in England today.

Without a stable home, nothing else works

People won’t engage with counselling. They don’t turn up to health appointments. Employment support doesn’t stick. Every other service depends on this foundation. Heversham is that foundation.

Why Heversham

12 energy-efficient homes in Birchwood, Skelmersdale, with on-site staff. This leads to repeat crisis, increasing pressure on already stretched services. The programme is built around practical, wraparound support that helps people move from stability to possibility.

We provide the support people need to stabilise and move forward:

• Life skills and confidence building

• Mental health and emotional wellbeing support

• Employment and education readiness

• Counselling and wellbeing sessions

• Community connection and social inclusion

• Planned move-on into independent living

The evidence it works

Heversham runs on the same structure as our Foyer programme, with successful outcomes:

“Birchwood’s staff are highly knowledgeable, approachable, and always willing to offer advice or assistance often at short notice… We work closely together through regular case discussions, joint visits, and multi-agency meetings. Together, we are achieving positive outcomes for some of the most vulnerable members of our community, and we value the continued partnership with Birchwood as an essential part of this work.”

Do you commission supported housing

We work with West Lancashire Borough Council, the NHS and local ICBs. We know what you need during procurement, and we have the data to help you make informed decisions.

We’re not asking you to take a risk on an unknown provider, instead you can confidently commission an evidence-based model.

Heversham reduces repeat crisis, lowers demand on statutory services, and supports people to move onto independent living. If you’re looking for a housing support partner in the North-West get in touch to arrange a site visit, request our full programme information, or chat about how Heversham fits with your current provision.
